Book Lover’s Tag

So I saw this tag done on Booktube and since I have started up my Booktube channel again and I will have this tag going up on there I thought that since not everyone is into watching Booktube videos and prefer reading blog posts so I thought that I will post it here as well.

Question 1 – Do you remember how you developed a love of reading?

I was actually talking to my Dad about this the other day. As a kid I HATED reading. I know hard to believe right. I was at the point where my parents got a tutor to make me read to them because I just simply refused to read. It wasn’t until I found the Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket that I fell in love with reading. This series changed my life and opened me up to other similar books. Really for me it was a matter of finding the right type of book and not being forced to read it.

Question 2 – Where do you usually read?

I read where ever I can really. But I get a lot of reading done on my commute to work each day as I have an hour train trip each way. I also get a lot of reading done in between my dance classes as currently I have 3 hours on a Tuesday and 2 hours on a Wednesday between classes. Also I love to read just on my couch with my Cinder blanket and a big mug of coffee.

Question 3 – Do you prefer to read one book at a time or several at once?

This has definitely changed over the years. I started off by being a strictly one book at a time book person and then this developed to one book per format (as in one physical, one digital and one audio) but now I allow myself to pick up whatever I am in the mood for and that could mean having 3 physical books on the go at once. The thing I have noticed is that it is only physical books that I can read more than one at a time. I just can’t managed having more than one digital or audio book on the go at any one time.

Question 4 – What is your favourite genre?

While I do enjoy reading most genres my favourite genre is definitely fantasy.

Question 5 – What genre will you not read?

So there aren’t really any genres that I will flat out say that I will not read but if I had to choose a genre it would be poetry. I used to love writing poetry but I don’t really enjoy reading it.

Question 6 – Do you have a favourite book?

My favourite book does change a bit but currently it is Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco.

Question 7 – What is the worst book you have ever read?

The book that comes to mind when I think about really not liking a book as I am reading it is Unpolished Gem by Alice Pung. I had to read this for school and on top of it being during the time I hated to read I could not connect to this book at all.

Question 8 – What is the biggest book you have ever read?

Coming in at 848 pages is A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin.

Question 9 – What is the last book you brought?

So I have just done a smallish order from Book Depository and in that order was Circe by Madeline Miller which is being talked about a lot at the moment so I have to check it out myself.

Question 10 – Which do you prefer: Library books or buying books?

I definitely prefer to buy books. My ultimate dream is to have my own library in my house (Need to buy a bigger house!!!!). That being said, I will not travel with my books. I get very OCD when it comes to my books so if I am going away (like I am in a few weeks) I will check out library books to take with me.

Question 11 – What are you reading now?

I am currently reading Obsidio by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff and also The Thousandth Floor by Katherine McGee which is a reread.

Question 12 – What are the disadvantages of being a book lover?

The first disadvantage is that there is never enough time to read all the books I want to read. I wish I could take a year off work and just catch up on all the books I haven’t read. Secondly is that I don’t have the unlimited amount of money to buy all the books. Thirdly is that I don’t have the room to store all of my books. As it is my two bookcases are double staked with many books laying down in order to use as much space as possible and I have also had to take books back to my Dad’s place to put on my old bookshelves.

I really enjoyed doing this Tag and if you haven’t done this tag well then your it. Let me know if you end up doing it too.

Happy Reading

      • Me too. As well as feeling behind. I am going to be doing a series on my booktube channel where i review books that have been out for years that I never got around to and hopefully that helps me feel a little more caught up.
